Definition of Dystonia musculorum deformans (DMD)Dystonia musculorum deformans (DMD): Also called torsion dystonia, this is a fortunately rare, generalized dystonia (a state of abnormal -- either excessive of inadequate -- muscle tone) that can be inherited, usually begins in childhood, and becomes progressively worse.
