Definition of CurcuminCurcumin: Curcumin is derived from the Curcuma longa plant, commonly known as turmeric. Curcumin has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for its analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic activity, and low toxicity. More recently, studies have confirmed anti-cancer activities on numerous biological pathways involved in mutagenesis, oncogene expression, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, tumorigenesis and metastasis.
